What is the difference between a Humanist and a FuturFaith officiant?

The primary difference between FuturFaith and Humanist organisations lies in our approach to spirituality and ceremonies. How does the HSE Register of Solemnisers work?

The Register of Solemnisers a crucial aspect for those interested in becoming legally recognised officiants in Ireland through our “Path to Ministry” programme. The register, maintained by the Health Service Executive in Ireland or NI Direct in Northern Ireland, lists individuals authorised to legally solemnise marriages. Inclusion requires nomination by a recognised religious or secular body, a process we guide you through as part of our support. Our course ensures you understand the legalities of solemnising marriages, enhancing your credibility as a FuturFaith Minister. The HSE register is publicly accessible, validating your status as a legally recognised solemniser and allowing potential clients to verify your credentials. In addition to preparing you for the register, our training equips you with a broad range of skills for a successful career. Read more

Will my training be conducted online or in a physical, in-person setting?

Our Path to Ministry course combines the flexibility of online learning with the practical benefits of in-person assessments, offering a comprehensive training experience for aspiring officiants. The course includes online training modules that allow you to learn at your own pace, with engaging quizzes to reinforce your knowledge. A mock final exam via Zoom prepares you for the in-person final examination, where you demonstrate your skills in conducting ceremonies. Upon completion, you can join the Futur+ programme to gain solemniser status and more. Read more

How long will the "Path to Ministry" course take to complete?

Our "Path to Ministry" course is meticulously designed for maximum flexibility, allowing you to progress at a pace that suits your schedule and learning style. With over 120 lessons across 19 modules, the course duration varies among students. We encourage a steady, methodical approach to ensure you're thoroughly prepared for your role as a minister. Engaging deeply with each lesson is crucial for success, as our course is structured to build your knowledge systematically. While self-paced, tutor support is available, though assignment reviews may take time. The course typically requires around 40 hours to complete, and you’ll have access to the course for 2 years from your start date, ensuring ample time to integrate the teachings into your practice.
